Easter

Chocolate eggs are selling quickly and the Easter bunny is getting ready to bounce!

Easter is an important time of year and families spend time together, but why? Partly tradition, but historically because of Jesus, though this is forgotten by many.

For Christians, Easter has its roots in a cross and an empty tomb. The cross, a brutal method of Roman execution, held Jesus for six hours on what we call Good Friday; the tomb held the body of Jesus for three days when counted using Jewish rules of days and nights until he rose again back to life on Easter Sunday.

It may seem a wild claim, but nothing, absolutely nothing, in the history of the world is more important than Easter.

On the cross Jesus paid the price for the sins of his people, and the tomb was a temporary home for his body before he rose from the dead.

Space here doesn't permit an explanation of how this all works and, indeed, it is full of mystery too. I don't need to fully understand how a chair works before I entrust it with my weight. I don't need to fully understand the cross and resurrection before I entrust Jesus with my whole life and eternity.

"I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me." John chapter 14 verse 6.
